Privacy Policy
MicroBlogBuzz provides this Privacy Policy to inform users of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personally identifiable information received from users of this website, located at www.microblogbuzz.com ("Site" ) or collected through our social networking API services. Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us.
Because we gather certain types of information about messages sent over micro-blogging platforms and about our visitors, we feel you should fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.
Information MicroBlogBuzz Gathers From Micro-Blogging Services
MicroBlogBuzz gathers two types of publicly available information from micro-blogging services:
- The publicly available message, as written by the sender;
- Any URL contained in the message, and its final destination;
- Publicly available information about the sender, including but not limited to the username, the micro-blogging profile page address, and the micro-blogging profile image address;
MicroBlogBuzz gathers micro-blogging information in the following processes:
- By contacting publicly available Application Programming Interfaces (API) of micro-blogging applications;
- By resolving the URL sent in a message to find its final destination;
The fact that we gather information from a micro-blogging platform is not an endorsement, authorization or representation of our affiliation with that third party.
Information MicroBlogBuzz Gathers And Tracks About Its Visitors
MicroBlogBuzz gathers two types of information about visitors:
- Information that visitors provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions to participate in our message boards, blogs or forums, to email a friend, follow a link on a micro-blogging platform, subscribe to our email newsletter, and from participation in polls and surveys;
- Information MicroBlogBuzz gathers through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. This information allows us to better tailor our content to readers' needs and to help our advertisers and sponsors better understand the demographics of our audience. Under no circumstances does MicroBlogBuzz divulge any information about an individual user to a third party.
MicroBlogBuzz Gathers Visitor Information In The Following Processes:
Voluntary Submission
- "E-mail this to a friend" policy
Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking "e-mail this to a friend" type of function. The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The information is not used for any other purpose. - “Buzz this” policy
Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents in a message to a micro-blogging platform by clicking a "Buzz this" type of function. The user must provide their micro-blogging service provider, username, password and message. This information is used only to transmit the message.
The user can enable a “Remember me” type of function, in which case his micro-blogging service provider and username will be stored in a “cookie” locally on his computer and retrieved by the Site upon subsequent uses. At any time, the user may disable this function or configure his browser to refuse a “cookie”.
The information is not stored nor used for any other purpose.
- Polling and blogging
We offer or may offer interactive polls or blogs to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what our audience thinks about important issues. Opinions or other responses to polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user. We may use a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual users. - Surveys
We occasionally conduct or may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our content to our audience. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our sponsors, advertisers and partners. We never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party. - "Email Newsletter" policy
Our site users can choose to opt in to an electronic mail newsletter. Upon opting in, the user will receive a single email to confirm his desire to receive the newsletter. The user may at any time opt out by using the opting out function shall he wish not to receive the newsletter anymore.
This information will not be shared with a third party under no circumstance, except in the scope of a business transfer, such as a merger, fusion, acquisition, sale, reorganization, or bankruptcy. In the later case, you will have the opportunity to opt out of any such transfer if the new entity's planned processing of your information differs materially from what set forth in this Privacy Policy.
Usage Tracking
MicroBlogBuzz tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of its sites. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. We break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser).
MicroBlogBuzz sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in our Search function, but this tracking is never associated with individual users. We use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you.
Cookies
We may place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information although it will enable us to relate your use of this site to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. MicroBlogBuzz uses cookies to track user traffic patterns (as described above). Our advertising system may deliver a one-time cookie to better track ad impressions and click rates.
You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use this site. However, you do need cookies to participate actively in message boards, forums, polling and surveys.
Usage Of The Gathered Information
We may make publicly available an aggregated version of the information we collect from micro-blogging services and any information we derive from it on the Site. We may also provide other means to access this information, such as RSS or Atom feeds, and Application Programming Interfaces (API).
We may use non-identifying usage tracking information for advertising, to improve our service and the Site functionalities, or for any other business purpose.
We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials or private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We may disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas), to protect the property and rights of Twitter or a third party, the safety of the public or any person, to prevent or stop any illegal, unethical, or legally actionable activity, or to comply with the law.
